Aros - Aarhus Art Museum

Description:
Some years ago Aarhus got a new art museum, in the centre of the city. From the outside the building looks like a big square brick house with glass parts, that from some angles make it look like it’s floating upon the glass. Inside the building is divided into two parts an exhibition wing and a service wing, the two wings is divided by an atrium.

The constructions are already designed and build. From the existing drawings is the bearing constructions calculated in a static documentation rapport in this project.

The project is carried out by using the theory achieved during the engineering course, beside that the group has also acquired new knowledge within the relevant areas of engineering.

The static documentation rapport contains a demonstration of the stability of the building, an estimation of the buildings robustness, main statics of the top floor of the service wing and a detail calculation of the hardest loaded beam and column on the calculated floors. Some of the construction elements turned out to be under dimensioned in the original project compared to these calculations.
