Bioprocess Engineering (in Danish only)

Do you want to learn how to use the natural resources and biological processes to create new energy sources, a cleaner environment and a better everyday life for many people? Then the Bachelor in Bioprocess Engineering is the right education for you.

In the program, you learn to exploit nature’s resources in an intelligent manner with the newest technologies within chemistry, process technology and biotechnological production.

You will among other things learn how to produce biofuel, to develop enzymes for healthy food and to convert waste to energy. As a fully-trained Bachelor of Bioprocess Engineering you will probably work with development or production within the energy- and environmental sector, the food sector or pharmaceutical industry.

The program takes 3 ½ years, of which half a year is a paid internship. Following the bachelor degree, you can continue with a master degree, which takes further 2 years.

Structure of Studies

Bioprocess technology is used when producing medicin, within agriculture and the industrial "third wave" which encompass areas such as enzyme production, fuel and waste treatment. The B.Eng. in Bioprocess Engineering aims at developing useful product by taking advantage of natural biological activities. Focus is on controlling and optimizing processes, solving technical problems and ensuring sustainability by minimizing negative influences on the environment.

The study is composed of a general part, engineering training and a specialization part:

The general part offers compulsory courses and one semesterproject each semester. For students with no practical experience a 4-week workshop course is an integral part. The engineering training in the 6th semester is undertaken as on-the job-training in an engineering company. The specialization part (last year of study) is formed as a series of elected courses and a bachelor project (thesis work).
