Curriculum

A full-time semester comprises a workload of 60 ECTS-credits. This is constituted by courses, a multidisciplinary project (10 ETCS-credits) and the bachelor's project (20 ECTS-credits).

Courses on offer

A number of courses are offered to enrolled students.
Each course has an extent of 2½ or 5 ECTS-credits

Bachelor's Project (see below)

Multidisciplinary Project

The project serves to train the application of theories from courses in proposing technical solutions to a given mechanical project in its entirety. The extent of the project is 10 ECTS-credits. The focus of the project can be either a more analytical approach or a more practically oriented approach. Use of computer models for the analytical part of the project will be encouraged. The starting point of the project could be a number of drawings, reports and other information describing a real-life situation that requires analysis and proposal of solutions to a number of specific problems. It is required that the project groups discuss and define their own focus of work within the project framework. At the end of the semester the project groups are required to hand in a written report describing their analysis and presenting their solutions and recommendations.

Bachelor's Project

The Bachelor's Project is carried out in the 2nd semester as a large, individual and independent project. The extent of the project is 20 ECTS-credits. The majority of the topics for the Bachelor's Project come from industrial companies, hospitals or other public companies. Mostly, an associate professor at the Engineering College of Aarhus will supervise the student in the project, often assisted by an employee from the company in question. At the end of the semester the project groups are required to hand in a written report describing their analysis and presenting their solutions and recommendations.

Please note that for international students it is only possible to carry out a bachelor's project as part of one of the international semesters.
