Description:
This building is designed by the architects Arkitema Aarhus 2006. The building is located in Skejby near the busy highway Randersvej near Aarhus. The surrounding buildings are all relatively new and have a wide range of architectural expressions.
A large atrium is placed in the middle of the building to secure plenty of daylight.
The main structures consist of concrete elements and our focus have been designing these elements and securing the stability of the building. Walls and slabs are key elements to direct both horizontal and vertical forces to the ground; however beams and columns are supporting elements in the atrium.
To overcome this task we have used different theories such as the stringer-method, fault-line theory, lattice analogy and calculation programs to compute difficult calculations. Concrete beams have been replaced with steel-elements to make the calculations diverse.
We have created a 3D model of the building from where all drawings have been extracted.
