What is the deadline for application?
If you wish to be granted accommodation, the deadlines are:
- 1 May
- 1 November
If you prefer to find your own accommodation, the deadlines are:
- 15 June
- 1 December
What are the semester dates?
Autumn semester: Mid-August to mid-January
(End of December for International Students)
Spring semester: End of January to end of June
Is there a Christmas break?
For foreign students the autumn semester ends just before Christmas, and the exams are in December. Read more in the "Academic Calendar".
What is the tuition fee?
Students from non EU-member countries must pay tuition fees unless they are part of a balanced exchange programme.
Students from EU-member countries and other exchange students do not pay tuition. (However, all students have to pay for textbooks and other material in connection with their studies at the Engineering College.)
Do you grant degrees?
At the Engineering College of Aarhus, we do not grant degrees to international students studying here for 1 or 2 semesters. The students earn ECTS-credits, which they transfer to their home universities, from which they will obtain degrees. Our Studies Office issues transcript of records to the students.
Can I transfer my credits to your university?
You cannot transfer your credits to our Engineering College as it is your home university which is the degree-granting body. The credits you earn here will be transferred to your home university.
What courses do you offer in English?
The Engineering College of Aarhus offers the following international programmes:
- International Semester in Wastewater Engineering, autumn semester at the Department of Civil & Structural Engineering
- International Semester in Water Supply Engineering, spring semester at the Department of Civil & Structural Engineering
- International Semesters in Mechanical Design, the Department of Mechanical Engineering
- International Semesters in Industrial Software Engineering
- International Semesters in Embedded Digital Signal Processing

Can I take an English course?
Included in all the International Autumn Semesters is a 2½ ECTS-credit course called "Cross-Cultural Understanding and English Language"

Can I apply for a scholarship?
The Engineering College of Aarhus is not able to support foreign students financially.
What are the living expenses in Denmark?
The cost of living in Denmark including transportation, books etc. is app. 4-5,000 DKK per month (2010) (regular expenses) plus accommodation (between 2,000 and 3,000 DKK per month, be aware that you have to pay for the whole period of 6 months).
Do you have a degree-programme in English?
No, at the moment the Engineering College of Aarhus does not offer any Bachelor degree programmes in English.
Can I study for a Master degree?
Yes, The Engineering College of Aarhus offers Master degree programmes in coorperation with Aarhus University, read further about the programmes here
Can I be accepted without a bilateral agreement?
Yes, you can be accepted without a bilateral agreement, provided that you fulfil our requirements.
Does the Engineering College offer accommodation for foreign students?
If you keep the deadline for application, accommodation will automatically be taken care of for you. Read more about "Accommodation".
How is the room furnished?
The rooms are differently furnished, but the standard furniture is: bed with mattress (you must bring your own pillow, duvet and linen), desk, chair, shelf, lamps. Some rooms have their own bathrooms, but in most cases you will have access to common bathrooms, kitchens and TV-rooms. There will be access to a washing machine and a tumble dryer.
Is there access to internet in the rooms?
You will automatically get access to the Internet at the Engineering College of Aarhus, and you will have access to the building every day at all hours by using your Student Card as an access, so that you can come and work on your projects. You can also get access to the Internet in your room, but you must cover the expenses yourself. Your Buddy can help you get started.
