"Throughout my studies I have worked a lot in teams, and as such teamwork has been a near everyday event. But nearly every team member has been Danish, have had the same background and had been taught the same project discipline and work process. Thus there has always been a general consensus about the steps of the project. Therefore having the possibility to work with a wide range of nationalities from significantly different parts of Europe was the main driver for me. I expected to encounter a great diversity in the work process and methods.
I surely did; and I am sure that the rest of the contestants did as well. Because the project work was very unlike anything we had ever experienced before.
This is partly caused by the time available, compared to the aim of the project. The CDDIP involves going through a development process, which normally has a much larger time frame, in only three weeks. It requires quite an interesting approach and planning of the assignment, to able to go from idea, through development and prototyping to a near-product in the limited time period.
So the camp definitely has an interesting project process, but the innovation camp was so much more. I see the summer school as a three part experience divided into an educational/technical part, a cooperative/communication piece and a social ingredient.
For the educational part the camp gave me the opportunity to test my abilities in a real life setting and I gained confirmation that my knowledge can actually be used outside the university.
The projects require much more than merely technical solutions and the challenging tasks are at times frustrating, therefore the team needs to solve the problems together. The cooperation of a team of varied national and academic backgrounds is tricky, but when it works it is fantastic.
The teamwork is everything and I found that the social element was actually the most important part of the camp. Meeting a lot of cool people and having fun, as well as getting a greater international and cultural understanding.
Overall the innovation camp was a fun, enlightening and exciting experience, which I will recommend to everyone. I have no doubt that in my future workplace I will seek the possibility of working with international colleagues."

"I guess it’s fair to say that the Innovation Camp 2009 was the best experience I’ve ever had as a student. The chance to develop new products at a Company as B&O is a privilege few can have, and I’m very proud to have had such chance. The work was very demanding and challenging from a creative point of view. The creative process was very stimulated by the teachers and B&O staff, and I believe he results were beyond their expectations. Then there is the multicultural experience… Simply amazing! I really learned a lot from different cultures… and made lots of friends that I still keep in touch today. Besides this we were very well accommodated and the extra activities were very interesting. I would do it all again if I could."

"It was three exceptional weeks, it was amazing learn and share knowledge and experiences while working at such a unique environment. The development of innovative concepts was a though challenge not just because of the demanding task but also because of the different cultures and backgrounds. I can’t say that it was easy, happiness and frustration are a part of the creative process, but in the end we did and amazing job!
If you want to test your technical, social and communications skills, if you want to know if you are capable of thinking and working “outside the box” and if you want to make friends from all around Europe and have some fun while working in a nice place, this is the Innovation Camp is your destiny!"

"Never before the idea of how it would be like to work on multinational or how would I respond to the demands in such places bared much though in my mind.So in terms of enlightenment this was a fantastic experience. I think that in this summer school you can find answers to different questions you may have. This experience without a thought will enhance your abilities in terms of communication, cooperation, respect, and how to go further with the orientation given by teachers and B&O's. In the end of this project, we are able to understand how one can work hard, giving their best everyday and at the same time enjoy doing it, and believe me, after each week the weekend just feels great:)" |
