2011 International Photo Competition Results

Thanking the contestants for their participation, we are now glad to give the results of the competition:

The public chose 2 winners:

Mengni Dong’s photo no. 5b

Armin Ehtesham’s photo no. 27b

The Public’s prize

“This is a photo taken when i was in the Botanical Garden, which is located near the Old Town. When i was in front of the red leaves, i felt so peaceful and quiet, and i was away from all noises in the city. I can't believe the beauty here in Denmark.”

“After the exams we rented a car and went on a road trip that took us across England and Scotland. We experienced Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon, York, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Glasgow and the Lake District. The trip was named Whiskey Run 2011, thus several distilleries were also visited. We bought a tent and did some urban camping. The UK has some breathtaking sights. It is recommended to travel in your host country during your stay. The picture was taken in Edinburgh.”

The Jury’s prize

The two judges chose Steffen Theis Fragtrup’s photo no. 25a as the winning photo for the following reason:

“The photo is simple, with technical drawings in a binder –and a foreign (compared to Denmark) insect. Technically, the photo could have been better: more sharp and focusing on the insect. However, on the whole it is the photo that most fulfills our basis for evaluation.”

“MTH – Internship Vietnam 2011 – Quite a detour, ending up at my office desk studying the bridge drawings. Listening closely it actually barks.”

Steffen will receive a gift voucher of 1,000 DKK, and Mengni Dong and Armin will each receive 500 DKK. Congratulations!

The two judges also chose a second and a third place, for which there are no prizes:

Second place

Photo no. 4b: “An exciting slanting composition, where the joy of the international students is radiating from the photo.”

Third place

Photos no. 3b, 13b, 14b, 17a & 17b: “All are technically good photos.”
