Description:
Vitus Bering Innovation Park, also known as VBI Park, is an extension of VIA University College in Horsens. Since the university mainly offers professional bachelor’s degrees there has been a strong desire to connect students and employers in Horsens with this new gathering point. Therefore lecture rooms and smaller offices have been mixed in the same building in the hope of enhancing interaction between students and employers.
For architectural engineers this extension has many interesting aspects. As engineers we have chosen to focus on the bearing structures, demonstrate the stability of the entire building and produce a drawing material that supports our calculations.
On the other hand the building has very strong architectural expression. With all due respect for the ideas and concept of C. F. Møller Architects, we have made some suggestions on how to optimize usage in different parts of the building. A better utilization of the roof terrace is among our primary suggestions.
