Wireless network on Windows Vista

 

Wireless network with Windows Vista

 

Follow the instructions below to configure IHA's wireless network on your pc:

 

1:

Open "Network and Sharing Center" from the Control Panel under "Network and Internet".
The screenshot below appears and you choose "Manage wireless networks".

 

 

2:

Click "Add"

 

 

3:

Click "Manually create a network profile".

 

 

4:

Enter information for the wireless network you want to add:

  • Network name: IHA-OPENNET
  • Security type: WPA-Enterprise
  • Encryption type: AES
  • Security Key/Passphrase: type nothing
  • Mark "Start this connection automatically"
  • Unmark "Connect even if the network is not broadcasting"

Click Next

 

 

5:

Click "Change connection settings".´

 

 

6:

Under Connection:

  • Mark "Connect automatically when this network is in range"
  • Unmark "Connect to a more preferred network if available"
  • Unmark "Connect even if the network is not broadcasting"

 

 

7:

Under Security:

  • Security type: WPA-Enterprise
  • Encryption type: AES
  • Choose a network authentication method: Protected EAP (PEAP)
  • Mark "Cache user information for subsequent connections to this network"

Click Settings

 

 

8:

Protected EAP properties

  • Unmark "Validate server certificate"
  • Mark "Enable fast reconnect"
  • Unmark "Enable Quarantine checks"
  • Unmark "Disconnect if server does not present cryptobinding TLV"

Click Configure

 

 

9:

Unmark "Automatically use my Windows logon name and password" (and domain if any)

 

 

10:

Click "Ok" to close all windows

 

11:

Click "Additional information is required to connect to IHA-OPENNET"

 

 

12:

Enter your credentials:

  • User Name : UserID (StudentID or initials)
  • Password: Your password
  • Logon domain: IHA
  • Unmark "Save this user name and password for future use"

Click Ok

 

13:

Wait a couple of minutes, and you should be connected to the wireless network.
